Project Overview
CTX (Cruise Terminal X) is a concept design for Port of Miami Terminal B. Instead of traditional hand sketches, the project applies form sketching as a design approach, focusing on discovering sculptural beauty and spatial harmony before defining the terminal’s theme.
experiment

Clay form experiment

This is an experiment to explore organic yet aesthetic forms of sculpture using highly accessible clay.

Paper form experiment

This is an experiment to distinguish between dominant and subordinate elements through scale and form to create spatial balance.
Finalizing

Foam sketching

Using the forms derived from the previous two mediums, I further developed them by carving foam. The organic and fluid curves evoke the streamlined shape of a cruise.

3D transforming

The form created in the previous process was redesigned using 3D software and optimized to suit real-world conditions.
Location

Site-specific design

CTX was developed using GIS data from the Port of Miami and its surroundings, achieving environmental harmony and contextual scalability.
